What Our Visitors Say

  • The Isle of Muck is an enchanted place. I have visited many Scottish isles – Shetland (where my ancestors are from), Orkney, Harris, The Uists, Benbecula, Barra, Coll….. but this was our first ever visit to the ‘Small Isles’. Muck was a paradise to walk around, and our stay at Gallanach cottage was full of golden moments – hearing the seals moaning on the rocks, watching baby seals play in the bay, seeing a golden eagle close at hand, and when a pheasant stopped to look in the window at us …… magic! Thank you Ruth for the marvellous stay.

  • Fantastic week, our first time to Muck and we loved it. Highlights were the beach (rain or shine!), badminton and play time in the Community Hall, pizza night at the Tearoom, walking up Beinn Airein. We look forward to coming back. Thank you Ruth and family.

  • What a fabulous week we’ve had! This was our first visit to Muck and what a privilege it’s been to be welcomed so warmly into island life. We’ve enjoyed great hikes, swimming – almost with seals! – bird watching, amazing food (thank you Bruce and Pam!) and we loved the cottage. Thank you for equipping it so well – and the views! And thank you for tipping us off about the aurora over Rum, Ruth, and for arranging the amazing gig with the Budapest Café Orchestra and the delightful school children in support!!! It’s been fab.

    Sandra & Malcolm, Sept 2023

  • We’ve had the pleasure of making Gallanach cottage our home for three months – and what a special and memorable time we have had! We’ve seen both golden and sea eagles near the Beinn, lots of knitting, writing, researching, playing, sea swimming and even a bit of orienteering (and curling!). It’s been a real adventure for all the family. Thank you every on Muck for making it so! We’re looking forward to returning to Muck in the summer. March 2023.

  • So good to be back. All be it briefly. There is no place that we would rather be. The Island revitalises every time. Until next year then!

    Farncombe, April 2024.

  • Very much enjoyed the impromptu ceilidh at the Community Hall and hearing the pipers play on the beach (a first for us!). We experienced a mix of weather but as always there is plenty to do inside and out. Will never get tired of the Gallanach bay view! Till next time……
